GPT Image
v2Best for beginnersOpenAI’s image tool lives inside ChatGPT and behaves like a designer you can talk to. Best instruction-following we’ve tested — just not as pretty as Midjourney.

Pro & Contra
Conversational editing — "make the sky stormier" just works, no masks or sliders
Renders full paragraphs of legible text, menus, labels and UI mockups
Included in a ChatGPT Plus plan you may already pay for
Generations take 30–90 seconds — painful for rapid iteration
Default look is competent but flat next to Midjourney’s
Strict content filters with frequent false positives on harmless prompts
Funktionen im Detail
Conversational editingEvery image is a chat turn. Ask for changes in plain language and it edits the existing image rather than rerolling from scratch.
Text renderingSignage, packaging, infographics and multi-line copy come out legible and correctly spelled — still category-leading in 2026.
Instruction following"Three people, the left one holding a red umbrella, seen from above" actually produces that. Spatial and count accuracy is the best we measured.
Formats & transparencyNative transparent backgrounds, exact aspect ratios and print-ready PNG output without upscaler gymnastics.

Strict, with the occasional baffling refusal — we had a Renaissance-style painting prompt blocked for "sensitive content." No nudity of any kind, no real-person likenesses without verified consent. The new verified-adult pilot (see News) may loosen this for consenting users later this year.
Das Fazit
The image generator to recommend to almost everyone: forgiving, obedient and probably already in your subscription. Artists will still want Midjourney.
